The persons present at the surgeries are: patients and their relatives coming to give care to them, group leaders who brought them to Saigon, doctors and nurses who perform the surgeries, and EOCRO volunteers (approximately 10 persons). Not anyone else is allowed to come.
Eyes surgeries patients from EOCRO charitable program have to pay some fees by exceptions:
1/ for some severe illness cases patients have to pay for an injection before surgery that costs VN$ 75,000.
2/ in some cases patients have to pay for a device that costs VN$ 1,000,000.
3/ every patient has to pay VN$ 25,000 for a pair of glasses to protect the eyes after surgeries.
4/ if patients in cases 1 and 2 can’t afford to pay for these fees, volunteers at their local provinces will try to raise funds for them, otherwise EOCRO will pay for them.
5/ in the province of An Giang some patients of Khmer ethnicity too poor to afford their fares to the Eyes Centre many times didn’t have a chance to participate to the surgeries, EOCRO will sponsor these fares for them.

EYES SURGERY PROCEDURE
Patients selected for eyes surgery by EOCRO don’t have to pay any money to the persons who refer them, to the group leaders who pick them up from the provinces to the Eyes Centre, to the doctors and nurses who perform the surgeries.
They have to pay for their fares from their provinces to the Eyes Centre. There were cases the group leader raised funds to fulfill this purpose.
Free breakfast, lunch, milk and drinks are donated by a group of Buddhist fellows in Saigon.
Present at every surgery, two EOCRO volunteers have the duty to take pictures and to ensure no one has been asked to pay extra money so they can fix the problem on time.
During the instructions given to the patients about hygiene and care for the eyes after surgeries, in front of all the patients, group leaders, doctors and nurses, the representative of EOCRO -Mr. Ho Vu Binh- mentions that all expenses for eyes cataracts surgeries are sponsored by EOCRO benefactors, if anyone was asked to pay any extra money, please let him know so he can redress the issue right away.
